In ancient Mesopotamia, the Sumerians built the Ziggurat of Ur, a massive stepped pyramid, around 2100 BC. This ancient wonder was dedicated to the moon god Nanna and stood over 210 feet tall. The Ziggurat's base was a square, each side measuring over 190 feet long. Its original height was likely even greater, but it was damaged by earthquakes and erosion.
